A really interesting story on a trial of wearable technology from US firm BioIntelliSense was the surprise number one in our most-read stories from New Zealand for 2022. One arm of the trial is looking at monitoring people with COVID-19 at home, and not surprisingly this topic had a few entries in our annual New Zealand hot top 10.
The conceptualisation of national data platforms such as Hira was also a big topic this year, with funds allocated in the May budget towards developing that platform and others, including the new federated data platform being developed for the new Te Whatu Ora Health New Zealand.
A changing of the guard at New Zealand’s largest healthcare software firm Orion Health was also in the news, as was the continuing battle against cyberattacks. The Pinnacle Midlands PHO incident was a top rater this year.
Elsewhere, some new implementations and the ongoing extension of the South Island’s shared information system, as well as the integration of the New Zealand electronic Prescription Service, were also in the top 10.
