New Zealand's highly successful GP2GP patient file transfer system has reached the milestone of one million messages transferred since it was launched in 2011, although it will now cost practices a small amount per transaction as secure messaging service HealthLink introduces a 27c fee.
Cited as a study in co-operation between health IT organisations for the benefit of practices and patients, the system allows patient files to be securely and electronically transferred when patients move to a new practice regardless of what practice management system (PMS) it uses.
