The New Zealand government has allocated $50 million in support for GPs and primary care as well as $20m to improve video conferencing and telehealth consultations as part of its dedicated $500m package to combat the coronavirus pandemic.

It has also allocated an extra $20 million to the Healthline national advice line, which is currently handling thousands of calls a day and has put on extra doctors and nurses to provide clinical over the phone.
