The roll-out of IT systems to support New Zealand’s Covid-19 immunisation program is facing challenging timeframes with some aspects being finalised just in time for each stage, a report from the Office of the Auditor-General has found.
Auditor-General John Ryan said the audit showed the health sector was working hard to roll out the Covid-19 vaccination program but a significant scale-up was required to achieve the government’s vaccination goals.
Meanwhile, the CEO of healthcare software vendor Orion Health Ian McCrae has renewed his criticisms of the procurement process for the COVID vaccination register (CIR) as well as its cost, and for the time the Ministry of Health has taken to roll IT support out.
