Over the last 18 months or so, a North Island primary health organisation and an Irish technology firm have been working on a small revolution in clinical software for general practices in New Zealand.
Long dominated by Medtech but able to support a competitive industry including MyPractice and Profile – with new entrant Best Practice currently developing a New Zealand version of its popular system to add to the handful of sites using Houston Medical – most PHOs in the country tend to all use the same vendor while practices manage their system on their own.
When Pinnacle Midlands Health Network began to look at updating its PMS, however, it decided to take a different tack. It has decided to build its own cloud-based, user-designed system called Indici in association with Irish firm Valentia Technologies, tailored specifically to its needs and able to support the health care home model.
