Digital health software developer Vitro Software has announced the integration of fellow Irish firm T-Pro’s speech-to-text technology within its digital medical records platform.

The new feature will allow clinicians to dictate and transcribe patient information in real-time using natural speech, eliminating the need for manual data entry.

According to T-Pro, the development is expected to free up more time for patient care and reduce the possibility of documentation errors. Clinicians will be able to quickly record patient information directly into their Vitro medical record, treatment plans and notes.

Vitro Software CEO Ruth Barnes described the collaboration as “transformative”, saying it would bring a new era of efficiency to healthcare providers.

“By embedding T-Pro’s innovative technology, we are introducing a transformative solution that will optimise time and resources for healthcare professionals,” Dr Barnes said.

T-Pro APAC managing director John Wollaston said the embedded speech-to-text technology is designed to empower clinicians by providing a streamlined and intuitive method for capturing and documenting crucial medical data.

“By working together with Vitro Software, we aim to deliver a solution that not only saves time and money for clinicians but also enhances the overall healthcare experience for providers and patients alike.”

Vitro Software specialises in electronic and digital medical records and clinical data management software, with several implementations in Ireland, Australia and New Zealand, as well as its international Operation Smile project for children with cleft palate and cleft lip.

T-Pro’s dictation and speech recognition technology is used in numerous Irish and NHS hospitals, in Australia and New Zealand, and is integrated into globally used EMRs.
