Pulse+IT News, Australasia’s leading digital health news service, has expanded its offering to the Irish market, launching a new weekly newsletter service to cover the latest in digital health and health IT in Ireland.

The launch of Pulse+IT Ireland comes as the Irish government releases its long-awaited digital health strategy 2024-2030, and as investment in new technologies in the hospital sector, such as cloud-based electronic health record implementations and virtual wards, takes shape.

New hospitals including the €2.24 billion New Children’s Hospital in Dublin and the private Bon Secours Hospital in Limerick are planned to be digitally enabled, featuring electronic health records from global vendors.

The six new HSE health regions developed under Sláintecare will increasingly aim to provide person-centred, integrated care, bring together the primary and secondary healthcare systems with social care to take into account the holistic needs of patients.

It also comes as eHealth Ireland has embarked on a massive program of work that will see a patient app developed, telehealth expanded, a national shared care record procured and rolled out and the potential of AI explored.

Pulse+IT’s publisher and managing director Emily Mara said the time was ripe to provide a dedicated news service for the Irish digital health sector, adding to the more than 20,000 digital health professionals who read Pulse+IT’s Australian, New Zealand and aged care editions.

“Ireland is currently seeing a huge acceleration in the adoption and use of digital health technologies and it’s an incredibly exciting time to be launching Pulse+IT Ireland,” Ms Mara said.

“We plan to report extensively on the new technologies being developed, the government’s new digital health strategy, and watch with interest as AI begins its promised revolution in healthcare.”

The new publication will be led by well-known health journalist Dawn O’Shea in Dublin, working with Pulse+IT’s editor-in-chief Kate McDonald in Australia. More staff will be announced as the publication grows.

The new publication is an addition to Pulse+IT’s growing portfolio, which also includes its recently announced Pulse, the podcast, which will take a global view of digital health and healthcare transformation.

Pulse+IT Ireland will be delivered to subscriber inboxes every Friday morning. You can sign up via the Join Newsletter form here, and sign up here for a subscription to access all of Pulse+IT’s leading website content.
