Homegrown digital health and medical device sector out in force

HealthTech Ireland is hosting the National Health Tech Innovation Awards later this month, providing a platform for manufacturers, distributors, medical device and digital companies to showcase state-of-the-art technologies and cutting-edge implementations.

Now in their 12th year, the awards included entries from hospitals, researchers, medtech entrepreneurs and industry, and are judged by an independent judging panel.

HealthTech Ireland says previous Award winners include acute hospital research teams, primary healthcare providers, SME start-ups, community healthcare, digital health entrepreneurs, global medtech companies, local distributors and healthcare professionals.

Categories include most transformative impact in the areas of digital health, medical devices, and diagnostics; most transformative use of IT; best in sustainability; best indigenous healthcare start-up; excellence in service and support; healthcare collaboration; and outstanding contribution to healthcare.

Shortlisted for the digital health category are Johnson & Johnson’s Care4Today app for medication reminders; Pain Relief Ireland’s Get Ready remote patient monitoring platform; Our Lady of Lourdes’ collaboration with MyPatientSpace; SyncroPhi Systems’ KEWS 300 point of care software; and Tallaght University Hospital’s Health Smart CP implementation.

In the diagnostics category is Professor Peter MacMahon for the introduction of AI technology across the Mater Hospital’s radiology department; and in the transformative use of IT category is HSE Technology and Transformation’s implementation of InterSystems’ TrakCare as a clinical management solution across National Forensic Mental Health Services and the National Rehabilitation Hospital.

Best indigenous healthcare start-up is a showdown between MyPatientSpace and AI receptionist technology developer Spryt.

The 2024 National Health Tech Innovation Awards are being held at The Shelbourne, Dublin 2, on November 21.
