Clinical communications specialist Ascom is the latest vendor to sign on with Children’s Health Ireland (CHI) to roll out its technology, signing a five-year deal to implement its alerts and notification management system (ANMS) at the €2.2 billion national children’s hospital when it opens next year.
The system has been designed to send alerts and messages to carers’ mobile devices and to enhance existing nurse call systems but is also integrated with the Epic Rover app for nurses.
According to Ascom, the implementation represents a pivotal step in CHI’s comprehensive digital transformation initiative towards a fully digital, paperless hospital environment.
Ascom’s ANMS will serve as to connect clinical and non-clinical staff with various alarm sources within the hospital.
Built on the Ascom healthcare platform, the solution allows healthcare professionals to make informed decisions through efficient delivery, acknowledgment, and escalation of prioritised alerts.
The ANMS includes features such as critical responder management capabilities for emergencies like cardiac arrest. It integrates seamlessly with the widely used Epic Rover application.
The new hospital’s technological infrastructure and IT services is being built by Telefónica Tech UK and Ireland under a five-year deal that has a special focus on cybersecurity.
The platform will also support clinical applications integrated into the hospital’s new Epic EPR.
The hospital will have a single sign-on system that will facilitate access to information for doctors, as well as a unique email system that will allow for seamless collaboration between the new hospital and the CHI urgent care centres in Connolly and Tallaght.
