Queensland's West Moreton Hospital and Health Service (WMHHS) has partnered with Royal Philips to launch an integrated care program aimed at people with complex chronic illnesses at risk of hospitalisation, using Philips' eCareCompanion telemonitoring platform and tailored management plans.
Philips said comparable ambulatory care programs it has been involved with in the US and the UK have demonstrated that there can be large reductions in resource utilisation as well as inpatient and emergency department costs by using the technology, which includes video conferencing capability and vital signs monitoring using peripheral devices.
