Mobility, portals and device integration big wins in Epic install at RCH

It's close on seven months since Melbourne's Royal Children's Hospital took the plunge and went live with its Epic electronic medical record (EMR), turning on all functionality at three o'clock in the morning and moving from a hybrid paper system to fully electronic virtually overnight.

The hospital still uses its existing pathology, radiology and patient administration systems but these will likely be phased out down the track as the full Epic enterprise suite – the first in Australia – is rolled out.
