Funding has been secured in the 2021-22 federal budget to move ahead with the Department of Health’s voluntary patient enrolment scheme, which is to be called MyGP.
The initiative, which was delayed by the coronavirus pandemic, is aimed at improving continuity of care and will provide extra money for patients with chronic illnesses who enrol with their regular general practice.
$50.7 million has been made available in yesterday’s federal budget for technology systems to support the use MyGP, which will encompass telehealth and other remote healthcare services to provide greater flexibility in care delivery.
