Australia to expand Medicare-funded telehealth to all patients

The Australian government has expanded the MBS telehealth items for the coronavirus to cover general practitioners and health professionals in at risk groups, such as those who are over 70 or have a chronic medical condition, from today.

According to AMA, the government will also announce a comprehensive telehealth model of care at the end of the week that will open telehealth consults to all patients, with or without Covid-19, from GPs and medical specialists. This will include mental health and allied health consultations.
