Residential aged care provider Arcare Aged Care has rolled out Bestmed’s electronic national residential medication chart (eNRMC) medication management system across the group’s 50 residences in Victoria, Queensland and NSW.
The implementation began in November 2022 and all residences are now live with the software, which is used to electronically prescribe medicines in residential care facilities.
An eNRMC acts as single source of truth for a patient or resident, consolidating all important information about the medicines prescribed, supplied and administered.
Arcare joins major RACF providers such as Regis Group and Southern Cross NSW & ACT in rolling out the system.
The Department of Health and Aged Care manages a $30 million grants scheme to encourage the early uptake of the eNRMC, with funding of between $7000 and $22,000 available to providers. Round two of the program is set to open on July 3.
The Australian Digital Health Agency keeps a register of software products that are conformant with the latest standards for eNRMC systems.
Bestmed’s system is cloud-based software that can be accessed at any time, anywhere and from any device for prescribers and dispensers
Arcare’s manager of special projects Adam Hassan said the organisation had been looking for a system that will significantly improve the administration of medication in its residences and minimise the risk of error.
