The federal government has released its response to the recommendations of the Royal Commission into Aged Care Quality and Safety with a $17.7 billion package over five years in yesterday’s budget.
The government has accepted or accepted in principle 126 of the 148 recommendations, including universal adoption of the My Health Record system and the roll out of electronic medication charts in residential aged care facilities, with dedicated funding of $45.4 million.
The full response was released on budget day and includes funding directed towards helping older Australians to access information about aged care and navigate the aged care system, including money to continue the operation of My Aged Care, as well as additional investments in digital and face-to-face assistance.
