Queensland to create ‘hospital of the future’ through biofabrication institute

Brisbane's Herston Health Precinct is set to host a new biofabrication institute dedicated to developing 3D imaging, computational modelling and printing technologies to create “the hospital of the future”, in which patient-specific tissue including bone, cartilage and even organs can be created.

A partnership between Metro North Hospital and Health Service (HHS) and Queensland University of Technology (QUT), the Biofabrication Institute will open in 2017 on the Herston site, which includes the old Royal Children's Hospital and neighbours the Royal Brisbane and Women's, Queensland's largest hospital.
