Social media networks tapped for smart environment for older people

Massey University researchers have won a Health Research Council of New Zealand (HRC) grant to investigate the development of a 'smart social environment' integrating social media networking with digital health devices and smart house technologies.

The research, led by Massey University College of Business senior lecturer Richard Whiddett and colleagues Inga Hunter and Hans Guesgen, will investigate a novel approach to the delivery of healthcare support to older people by modelling an environment that can provide information about an older person’s health and wellness to their individualised health support network.
