Victoria to expand discharge summary capability and trial eReferrals

The Victorian government will allocate $1.6 million in next week's budget to help eight health services to implement the capability to send electronic discharge summaries from hospitals to GPs, and will also set up an eReferral program to be piloted in four regions.

However, it seems unlikely it will support the Victorian branch of the AMA's request for a full roll out of secure messaging to all health services.
